Our parent company, First Chatham Bank, is a nationwide SBA preferred lender (PLP). We finished the SBA’s 2021 fiscal year ranked as a Top 50 SBA 7(a) lender by loan volume. We ranked #45 out of a total of 1,738 lenders. That’s the Top 2.6% nationwide. It’s never going to be our goal to be the biggest SBA lender in the nation, but it is certainly our goal to be the best.
Small business loans are the only thing we do. We’re never looking to take over our customers’ entire banking relationships. We’re like a specialist doctor who gives expert opinions and can be brought onto the team to execute one very specific job – securing financing to grow the business.
We’re smart, experienced professionals who take a highly consultative approach to lending. We speak with business owners at length to get to know their companies and their visions for the future three to five years out. We go much deeper in these exploratory conversations than a typical banker would, and leverage our learning to develop and present custom loan solutions.
Establishing a comprehensive understanding of our customers’ businesses puts us in a position to propose solutions that often look very different from what a conventional banker might propose. Our proposals will consider the entire balance sheet, and seek to have the lightest impact possible on cash flow. We excel in presenting unique solutions thanks in large part to our deep expertise with the SBA’s and USDA’s government-guaranteed lending platforms. We aim to deliver extraordinary service throughout the loan journey. While most of our customers are new to the SBA and USDA lending programs, we know the ropes incredibly well.
